We are a united Celtic pipe band based in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
—
Hamilton Celtic Pipes and Drums was established in memory of Winifred E. Stanley by Pipe Major Sara “Sally” H. Kent in 2006. Winnie, as her friends called her, was a dedicated piper who taught piping to Sara and some of the longtime members of this bagpipe band. Remaining devoted to her memory and her love of Celtic music, those enthusiastic members of this band continue to keep this music alive by inspiring youths and people of all ages to learn, perform, and enjoy the music passed on to us from the Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe tradition.
Sally had a deep love and appreciation of bagpipe music, and shared that enthusiasm with all who participated in the band. In 2018 she handed the reigns over to Roderick Nevin as the Pipe Major, and she passed in August of 2021. As a career music educator, Rod has continued to develop the band musically in rehearsals, so that we can both Look Good and Sound Good in our parades and performances. As a united Celtic pipe band, we welcome members of any race, age, nationality, or creed. Each of our members wears the tartan of their choosing, whether it be clan, county, national, club, or affiliation.
We are always welcoming of new members, whether as a piper or drummer, a beginner student or veteran musician. If playing an instrument is not your talent, but you desire to be a part of this unique troupe, consider learning the marches of the band by joining the proud flag-carrying ranks of the Colour Guard!
Band practice is held every Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Birdsboro (5 Brooke Manor, Birdsboro, PA 19508) from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
